3 dead after random shooting at Colorado Walmart, suspect still at-large

Three people are dead following what police are calling a “random” shooting at a Walmart in Colorado, authorities said Wednesday night. The suspect has not been apprehended and police are currently conducting a manhunt for the individual. Two men and one woman were killed in the shooting, police said. The two men were pronounced dead on scene, while the woman later died at the hospital. Police said they are looking for a middle-aged man wearing a black jacket, maroon shirt and jeans, who nonchalantly walked in the front door of the Walmart and opened fire with a handgun, randomly targeting people in the front of the store near the registers. He then exited the store, got into a red Mitsubishi Mirage and drove away from the scene, police said after reviewing security footage fro...

Click to expand Replay Video SETTINGS OFF HD HQ SD LO UP NEXT (Video by CBS New York) On the same day he learned his father passed away, a new dad did his best to comfort his two-month-old son as he received his first vaccinations. Antwon Lee of Warrenton, Georgia, took his newborn son, Debias King, to the pediatrician on October 26 to get his immunization shots. But Lee says he was incredibly nervous about the appointment because he knew his little man was not going to be happy. “I felt kind of scared a little bit, I knew he was going to go through some pain,” Lee, 29, tells PEOPLE. “I had to figure out a way to comfort him, and the day before, I talked to him and said if he needed to cry, go ahead and cry. That morning when we got there, and I let him know again it was okay to cry.”  I f...

Stop Throwing Out Banana Peels—Here’s Why

You’d probably never think to take a bite out of a thick, bitter peel, but people in other parts of the world actually do use them in cooking. They might seem inedible, but they’re actually nutritious. ‘It contains high amounts of vitamin B6 and B12, as well as magnesium and potassium. It also contains some fiber and protein,’ San Diego-based nutritionist Laura Flores tells Live Science. (Don’t miss these other 9 food parts you need to stop throwing away.) Wash the skins—the riper, the thinner and tastier—then boil them for at least ten minutes to soften up the texture. You can also blend raw peels into these 8 healthy fruit smoothie recipes.

Springer had one of the greatest World Series of all time

Click to expand Replay Video SETTINGS OFF HD HQ SD LO UP NEXT Video by Sports Illustrated LOS ANGELES – George Springer had a lousy ALCS. The Astros’ leadoff man, a 2017 All-Star who managed an .889 OPS during the regular season, hit only .115 in the seven-game set against the Yankees without a single extra-base hit. And after Springer opened the World Series by going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Game 1, some demanded action: Springer needed a day off, they thought, or to be moved down in the lineup due to his struggles. But Astros manager A.J. Hinch stood by his man. And why not? Springer batted leadoff for Houston 137 times during the regular season and in the club’s first 12 postseason games, and changing that recipe on account of a handful of bad games would repres...

Twitter users react to Astros’ huge World Series win

© Image by Thomas Carannante JG The Houston Astros are your 2017 World Series champions. It sounds a little weird, but that’s because it’s never been said before. It’s the first championship in their franchise history. All in all, if we were to sum it up: George Springer is a beast, A.J. Hinch’s bar fight proved to be well worth it, and the Dodgers completely choked. And now, for Twitter. It all started with Yu Darvish. The man got rocked, and it wasn’t pretty. How do you explain that? Hmmm. Yeah, I got nothing. Wonder how that will help him out in the offseason? Not a great time to be a free agent for the right-hander. Or, not a great time to exist and blow a game when the Internet is around. As a result of Darvish’s awful start — he allowed five...

© Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports Obvious winners: the Houston Astros. For the first time in their history, the Houston Astros are World Series champions. The final out! #EarnedHistorypic.twitter.com/Cxah8btuWP — Houston Astros (@astros) November 2, 2017 It was an emotional World Series. Naturally, it produced some standout performances of both the good and bad variety. So, who are those people? Naturally, in one of the most hitter-friendly World Series of all-time, plenty of Astros hitters are winners. Just as naturally, plenty of Dodgers’ hitters are losers. But one Houston pitcher did stand out in a good way, while a well known Los Angeles hitter stood out in the other direction. These were the wi...

About 600 men at the centre on Manus Island do not want to leave, saying they fear being attacked outside. Bin Laden raid: CIA releases 470,000 files

Image copyright Getty Images The CIA has released nearly 470,000 files seized during the 2011 killing of former al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. The new material includes his personal diary, documents and audio and video files – including a clip showing his son Hamza as an adult, at his wedding. It is the fourth release by the CIA of material found in the raid on Bin Laden’s Pakistan hideout in Abbottabad. Some material has been withheld because it could harm national security, the US intelligence agency says. “Today’s release of recovered al-Qaeda letters, videos, audio files and other materials provides the opportunity for the American people to gain further insights into the plans and workings of this terrorist organisation,” CIA Director Mike Pompeo said i...

Astros claim first World Series title in Game 7 win over Dodgers

The World Series trophy will call Houston home for the first time. The Houston Astros took Game 7 on the road in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, 5-1, behind the strong pitching of Lance McCullers Jr., Brad Peacock and Charlie Morton and the slugging of outfielder George Springer. Springer, who was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run which chased Dodgers starter Yu Darvish, was named MVP. Morton, an unlikely veteran star, did not allow a baserunner over the final three innings and was given the win. The title comes two months after the city of Houston was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. The city suffered extreme flooding and dozens of deaths. The city rallied around its Astros in the wake of the disastrous storm. The team wore a “Houston Strong” patch on their jerseys throughou...

Astros defeat Dodgers in Game 7, win first World Series in franchise history

LOS ANGELES (AP) From laughingstock to lift off. George Springer and the Houston Astros rocketed to the top of the baseball galaxy Wednesday night, winning the first World Series championship in franchise history by romping past the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7. Playing for a city still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, and wearing an H Strong logo on their jerseys, the Astros brought home the prize that had eluded them since they started out in 1962 as the Colt .45s. “I always believed that we could make it,” All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve said. “We did this for them.” For a Series that was shaping up as an October classic, Game 7 quickly became a November clunker as Houston scored five runs in the first two innings off an ineffective Yu Darvish.
