Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced Paul Friedman as the new executive vp of music business affairs and administration, filling the role left open by Shelly Bunge‘s departure from the company.
Friedman has been at the company for the past 16 years, handling the music needs on some of SPE’s biggest film projects, including the Spider-Man and The DaVinci Code franchises.
In his new role, Friedman will oversee all business aspects of original music for Sony’s film and TV projects, including the acquisition, publishing and sale of music rights and properties. He will also be responsible for Madison Gate Records, SPE’s label specializing in soundtracks and other recordings from film, television and other entertainment media.
Prior to SPE, Paul practiced law at King, Holmes, Paterno and Berliner, LLP and worked as a financial analyst for Polygram Music Publishing.
