© Greg Nash Robert Mueller has received President Trump’s written answers to the special counsel’s questions.  President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani said special counsel Robert Mueller did not ask about possible obstruction of justice in his questions to Trump. Giuliani told Axios that none of the written answers Trump gave Mueller on Tuesday addressed his actions while in office. Giuliani added that Trump will not answer any questions about obstruction of justice moving forward and warned against the possibility that Mueller will subpoena the president. “I think that he would not win a legal battle if he did that, and I think it would consume months,” Giuliani said. “I don’t think he has any way to compel testimony on obstruction because the argu...

Law banning female genital mutilation ruled unconstitutional

A federal judge on Tuesday ruled that the U.S. law banning female genital mutilation was unconstitutional and dismissed charges against several doctors in Michigan who carried out the procedure on underage girls as part Muslim sect’s religious practice. U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman ruled that Congress had no authority to enact a law that criminalizes female genital mutilation (FGM). “As despicable as [FGM] may be… [Congress] overstepped its bounds” by banning the procedure, the judge said. The ruling came after defense lawyers challenged the 22-year-old genital mutilation law that hasn’t been used until 2017 when Dr. Jumana Nagarwala was arrested and accused of mutilating the genitalia of young girls. DOCTOR PERFORMED FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION IN MICHIGAN CLINIC, FEDERAL AUTHORITIE...

Contact with the endangered Andaman tribes living in isolation from the world is illegal because of the risks to them from outside disease. Estimates say the Sentinelese, who are totally cut off from civilisation, number only between 50 and 150. Seven fishermen have been arrested for illegally ferrying the American to the island, police say. Local media have reported that Chau ma...

My Brightest Diamond Explores the Freedom of Movement In ‘It’s Me on the Dance Floor’ Video: Premiere

Shara Nova says her upcoming My Brightest Diamond album, A Million To One, is all about the body — and dancing. And there are plenty of bodies in the video for its first single, “It’s Me on the Dance Floor,” premiering exclusively below. “I’m still learning how to have a really deep relationship to dance music and connect to my own body in a different way,” Nova tells Billboard. “So the beginning impetus for the record was, okay, I want to keep exploring the concept of the body, through movement — that’s the voice and the drums and how they intertwine and interrelate.” The combination of a strict religious upbringing in Ypsilanti, Mich., and subsequent classical training also complicated Nova’s relationship to dance mu...

McArthur had released a series of EPs and toured hard before taking that time off from the road, where he plays primarily house concerts. “I was tired,” he tells Billboard, and, with his marriage also on uncertain footing, he needed to “just stay at home and spend time with friends and family and write as many songs as I could.” He wound up with about 40 of those, and the dozen on the album focus on the thoughts he had and the lessons he learned during that time. “During that year of writing I asked myself a lot of questions and started...
