Meek Mill Gets Romantic in New ‘Fall Thru’ Video

The Philadelphia rapper is currently serving a 2-4 term in state prison for violating probation. Meek Mill shared a new video for his Wins & Losses love track “Fall Thru” on Wednesday (Nov. 29), as his current incarceration casts a shadow over the romantic visual.  The video opens with Mill calling up his love interest. The two of them seem to be living large, with him in a Rolls Royce and her in a nice house, but she’s busy with work and soon it seems they’re longing for simpler times. As the track kicks in, the scene cuts to the two lounging in a shabby apartment where they get cutesy in the kitchen and on the stoop outside.  The clip ends with the hashtag “#JUSTICE4MEEK” as it fades to black, offering a stark reminder that the rapper is stuck behi...

Zac Brown Band’s Jimmy De Martini Recalls First Grammy Win & Says He’s ‘Blown Away’ by This Year’s Nomination

Zac Brown Band received their first Grammy nomination in four years Tuesday morning, earning a best country duo/group performance nod for their heartfelt single “My Old Man” from this year’s LP Welcome Home. Although the group already has three golden gramophones to their name, ZBB fiddlist Jimmy De Martini finds this one particularly special because of how meaningful the song is to the band — especially frontman Brown. “I know it’s a very personal song for him,” De Martini tells Billboard. “He was inspired his whole life by a song called ‘Leader of the Band’ by Dan Fogelberg, and he’s always like, ‘I wish I could write a song as a tribute to my father.’ Zac had other people take him in when he was younger — one of the guys that raised ...

’Tis the season for new holiday music. On Friday, Amazon Music’s Acoustic Christmas playlist will bow 21 new tracks. Among the nearly 2 dozen new and exclusive tunes added to the existing playlist are Yuletide originals from Noah Cyrus, Jim Lauderdale, Nicki Bluhm, The White Buffalo, Noah Gunderson and Josh Ritter, whose entry “Winter Time (The Snow Is Coming Down)” premieres today on Billboard. Ritter didn’t set out to write a holiday tune, but his creative muse had another idea. “While working on my recent record, Gathering, I was in a phase of writing whatever came to mind,” the singer/songwriter told Billboard in a statement. “I tried not to filter anything. One morning, I woke up with a holiday song in my head. I worked on it a little while and ended up recording it ...

BTS’ ‘Spring Day’ Explores the Hardship of Long-Distance Relationships: See the Translated Lyrics

Now that BTS is attracting a wider audience of English speakers, Billboard wants to help new fans understand the meaning behind the lyrics. BTS doesn’t shy away from introspective lyrics about their own issues. But before their social consciousness culminated in a collaboration with UNICEF, the septet explored the longing that persists when companionship is complicated by separation on the song “Spring Day.” Members Suga and RM co-wrote the lyrics, which add a deep resonance to their interpretive choreography. The metaphor of the spring day enhances the emotional impact of lines like “I hate even this moment that is passing by” since cherry blossoms symbolize the ephemerality of life. Here are the original lyrics to “Spring Day,” followed by the English translation: 보고 싶다이렇게 말하...

Ex-Rap Promoter James ‘Henchman’ Rosemond Convicted in G-Unit Murder-for-Hire Scheme

A former hip-hop and rap promoter known as Jimmy Henchman has been found guilty in New York of ordering the killing of a friend of rapper 50 Cent. A federal jury Tuesday convicted James Rosemond on murder-for-hire charges. Rosemond was accused of hiring a crew to kill an associate of the rap group G-Unit as payback for an assault on Rosemond’s son. It was Rosemond’s third trial in the case. The first ended in a hung jury. Rosemond was convicted in the second, but a new trial was ordered. Rosemond already was serving two life sentences for separate drug and gun convictions. Rosemond’s lawyer claimed witnesses were only trying to reduce their own jail sentences. Lawyer David Touger tells the New York Post he’ll appeal. G-Unit associate Lodi Mack was killed in 2009.

For more than 20 years, Mary J. Blige has left her mark on the music industry, earning the title of Queen of Hip-Hop Soul for her anthemic classics and resilience in the music industry. On Thursday, she will be recognized for her contributions at Billboard‘s annual Women in Music ceremony. Blige has inspired a generation of singers who came after her, but when she looks for strength and inspiration, the one person that comes to mind is the former first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. “The strength this woman has is so amazing because it takes a lot of strength to do what she did,” Blige said in a behind-the-scenes clip for the Billboard Women in Music shoot. “It takes a lot of courage, it takes a lot of confidence to be first lady, to be an African-Americ...
