Fifth Harmony canceled its four-city Australian tour last month after Ticketmaster announced that the dates were undergoing a “change in scheduling.” While the previously planned Perth date is apparently still off, the foursome is still making the trek to three Australian cities along with visits to Japan, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.   More tour dates will be announced, but check out the current ones below. 2...

Must-Hear Music Podcast: Taylor Swift, Miguel, N.E.R.D. ft. Rihanna, Pinegrove & More

On this week’s Must-Hear Music, as we near the release of Taylor Swift’s Reputation album, we talk about her most recent track, “Call It What You Want.” As it turns out, I brought a knife to a gunfight because my podcastmates aren’t ready for it, but I think it’s gorgeous. We’re on the same page with Miguel’s “Told You So,” though, the first single from his upcoming album War & Leisure. With N.E.R.D.’s “Lemon” featuring Rihanna, we all agree her verse is fire, even if one of us think it sounds too close to a Missy Elliott song Pharrell also worked on. In the rising artist category, we look at Bushwick house queen Yaeji’s “raingurl” and Tom Misch’s sensual “Movie.” Plus: Pin...

Chance the Rapper Speaks Up at Chicago City Council Meeting to Slam Proposed $95M Police Academy

On Wednesday (Nov. 8), Chance the Rapper addressed the Chicago City Council in regards to a proposed plan suggesting the city build a $95 million police academy in Garfield Park.  Donning his signature Chance 3 hat, the “Blessings” MC issued a fistful of barbs towards Mayor Rahm Emanuel after he left the chambers, leaving the Chicago rapper dumbfounded by his escape. “I guess the mayor had to step out when I came up. But it’s cool. It’s cool. It’s cool because I’m here to talk to you,” he said. Then, Chano gleaned over some of the pressing issues plaguing the city, mainly its impotence in the field of education. “I’ve been asking for money for over a year now to fund these classrooms and, on the 4th of July weekend, they announced in like a cool financing way that … they’...

Niall Horan Explores Modeling, Signs With Wilhelmina Agency

Wilhelmina Models — which is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year — recently signed Maren Morris to its celebrity division, and now they’re including her “Seeing Blind” cohort, Niall Horan. On the heels of his solo album, Flicker, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October, Horan joins other Wilhelmina artists who double as models, including Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes, Machine Gun Kelly and Leona Lewis. The 24-year-old admittedly never thought about modeling, but says he’s simply taking non-music related opportunities as they come. “I’m into the fashion side of things. I think it’s part of our culture, and what we do, and my job,” he told Vanity Fair. “I wouldn’t say I was a model. I’m far from that, but obviously Wilhelmina thinks different. It’s gonna ...

Return of the Top 40 Troubadour: How Singer-Songwriters Reclaimed Pop Radio

When Post Malone’s “Rockstar” topped the Hot 100 earlier this month, it marked the fifth hip-hop No. 1 of 2017, tying a chart record. In this climate, it’s not surprising that pop acts are scrambling to capitalize on rap’s chart popularity by borrowing hip-hop production techniques (Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato) or collaborating with rappers (Maroon 5, Bebe Rexha, Calvin Harris, Charli XCX). But there’s one notable sector of hold-outs. Over the last 12-15 months, a parade of guitar-toting male troubadours have climbed, slowly and sensitively, on to pop radio, and their singles — from James Arthur‘s “Say You Won’t Let Go” to Niall Horan‘s “Slow Hands” — make no attempt to engage with hip-hop p...

Lana Del Rey, Sting & Courtney Love Among Stars Honoring Leonard Cohen at Tower of Song Memorial Tribute

In the city he was born — where he is interred alongside his parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents, where there are two posthumous giant murals of him on sides of buildings, and his home is still in the famil –, Montreal’s Leonard Cohen was honored, a year minus a day to his death, at age 82. Artists of all ages and genres, from Elvis Costello and Sting to Courtney Love, Bettye Lavette and Lana Del Rey, showed up to perform and pay tribute to the legendary singer-songwriter, Monday night at the Bell Centre. “My father left me with a list of instructions before he passed: ‘Put me in a pine box next to my mother and father. Have a small memorial for close friends and family in Los Angeles … and if you want a public event, do it in Montreal,’” said Adam Cohen in a statemen...

Tickets have already run out on ticketing site 1iota, which states that the performance will take place in Los Angeles on Nov. 15 at the show’s outdoor stage. This isn’t the first time a late-night host highlighted K-pop acts. In 2012, Girls’ Generation made their U.S. debut on The Late Show with David Letterman, performing “The Boys.” Psy, a fluent English speaker, also made the rounds on American talk shows to promote his single with Snoop Dogg, “Hangover,” which peaked at No....
