Blake Shelton & Stereophonics Lead Latest Hot Tours Roundup

Blake Shelton heads up the weekly tally of Hot Tours (see below) for the second week in a row, earning his latest No. 1 based on revenue reported last week from three recent shows on his Country Music Freaks tour. Following at No. 2 is Welsh band Stereophonics, making its first 2018 appearance on the touring recap with sales from three shows on its recent European trek.

Shelton has ranked among the week’s top-grossing touring artists every week since the tour kicked off on Feb. 15 — three times as the highest grosser. In this latest recap, his $3.3 million take comes from sold-out performances in three venues: Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio; Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore; and Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. The Columbus facility produced the top box-office counts of the three with a $1.2 million gross from 15,851 sold seats on March 15. It is also the highest-grossing venue on the tour so far and has drawn the largest crowd of the 14 dates reported. Since its launch, his Country Music Freaks tour has reached $14 million in sales from a total of 178,612 sold tickets.

Stereophonics hit the road in January supporting Scream Above the Sounds, the band’s 10th studio album released last fall. The first run of shows began on Jan. 24 and included dates in six European countries during a two-week span. Next came a string of U.K. arena dates that kicked off in Scotland on Feb. 23 and ran through mid-March. Landing in this recap are the shows in two markets — Glasgow and London — during the tour’s three-week stretch through the U.K. Glasgow’s SSE Hydro hosted the band on Feb. 24, with 12,632 fans in attendance and sales topping £538,000. Two performances were held at London’s SSE Arena, Wembley on March 2 and 3, earning more than £1 million from 22,337 sold seats. Revenue from all three shows totaled $2.2 million (USD) to earn the second slot on the Hot Tours tally.

The group will be touring at various times during the next six months beginning first with a trip Down Under in April for shows booked in five Australian cities. Dates in Singapore and Dubai will follow. During the summer months a handful of festival appearances are on tap in Europe along with a string of North American shows in September.
